Executives from Quiksilver, Volcom, Hurley and Nike recently met to discuss conservation of the dwindling organic cotton supply at an event organized by Los Angeles based – Sustainable Business Council. Only 2 percent of the world’s cotton supply is organic. The surf and athletic apparel companies also talked about ways to make their companies more eco-friendly.
One concern raised during the panel discussion was whether retailers would support the industry as companies move more organic. Retailer have complained that there are not enough organic clothing brands.
