BRA Endorsement among many highlights of record August show
Wrightsville Beach, NC (August 1, 2013) – Board Retailers Association (BRA), the non-profit organization supporting independent retailers in the surf, skate, snow, wake, wind and SUP industries, attended AGENDA last week in Long Beach, CA. It was the first official west coast trade show presence of the Association since ASR closed its doors in 2010. AGENDA Long Beach is BRA’s exclusive west coast partner—a leading forum for action sports, surf, streetwear, lifestyle and footwear.
AGENDA founder Aaron Levant was pleased to announce the show was the most successful in its decade-long history. “Looking back at AGENDA’s humble beginnings, and now our ten year run, I want to take the opportunity to thank all our brands and retailers for the continued support and sharing in our vision,” he said. “Long Beach was the largest show in the history of AGENDA, showing a staggering increase of over 40% in retail and distributor attendance. I can’t think of a better way to commemorate our ten year run.”
A notable show highlight was the launch of AGENDA WMNS—a neighborhood where Women’s dedicated brands united in one location, which called attention to the powerful potential of the women’s market in action sports, in addition to offering a convenient shopping experience for attendees.
“I was very happy with the women’s brand selection in the AGENDA WMNS section. Having them all in one area made browsing and buying very easy,” said BRA Co-Chair Coco Tihanyi, owner of Surf Diva Boutique. “I found some great new brands to sell at the boutique and was able to place my orders before leaving the show.”
In addition to a floor presence and board meeting, AGENDA and BRA hosted a retail reception on the first night of the show to celebrate the endorsement partnership, and network as a group. BRA members and non-member retailers mingled together with brand leaders exhibiting at AGENDA.
BRA Board Members also met the second morning before AGENDA opened to discuss upcoming events and membership options that will be announced in the coming months. Members in attendance were in agreement that the show was a great success.
Sun Diego’s Dave Nash best summed up the vibe of the show. “For as busy as AGENDA Long Beach was, the show was easy to navigate. It was extremely well laid out and organized with a great product mix of surf/skate/street to include the tried and true as well as lots of new ideas and brands to engage.”
