Leisure Trends Group released their annual holiday consumer sales report “All I Want For…” Some highlights from the report are provided below:
*The majority of Active Americans (71%) plan to purchase snowsport apparel for someone on their holiday list.
*52% of Active Americans plan to spend the same amount on their overall gift giving this year as they did last year, versus 43% of the general population.
*Planned spending on sports, recreation and fitness gifts this holiday season is up $65 from last year among Active Americans at $568 compared to $503 in 2008.
*Outdoor Specialty Chain Stores and Online Merchants top the list of where Active Americans plan on doing their holiday sports, recreational and fitness product shopping this season.
*For Active Americans who plan to buy gifts for children under 13, ski & snowboard related items, bicycle gear and soccer equipment top the list.
*If Active Americans were “in charge” of their favorite outdoor specialty shop, 26% would use discounts/sales/lower prices to drive traffic, 19% would use giveaways/raffles and 10% would use package deals.
