Surfing America’s Mike Gerard was re-elected to a second term as Vice President of the International Surfing Association. Gerard, who was first elected in 2006, will serve a four-year term under President Fernando Aguerre and along side fellow VP’s Alan Adkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa). and newly elected Karin Sierralta (Peru).
“It’s truly an honor to serve on ISA’s Executive Committee.” said Gerard. “And to get the nod for a second term is exciting. I support Fernando and his efforts to get surfing into the Olympics one day. Given snowboarding’s success–along with the IOC’s changing philosophy regarding the youth market and action sports in general, I’m excited to be involved in the movement.”
Gerard has been Executive Director of Surfing America since 2003 and was instrumental in rallying the industry behind the Surfing America project obtaining the National Governing Body recognition from the ISA.
