The National Retail Federation forecasts that the upcoming holiday season will only yield a sales increase of 2.2% for a total of $470.4 billion in sales. The gain falls below the 10-year average of growth – 4.4%. If predictions are correct, this would be the slowest growing holiday season since 2002. Specialty retailers need to prepare now for the holiday shopping season in order to make the most of what has been a retail highlight.
