LA JOLLA, CA—Sanuk Footwear has found an innovative way to support its retailers by implementing technology that will drive foot traffic to stores that carry Sanuk products. Sanuk will use Front Window software from Clarinova to improve online searches for its products. Front Window technology will ensure that individual retailers are easily found in local web searches, and that these retailers’ current inventory is available online.
Front Window software builds search engine optimized websites, called microsites, which are specially designed to improve local search results. These microsites feature the latest product images and promotions for the brand—Sanuk in this case—along with the retail store’s information. With the help of Front Window, Sanuk and its retailers will benefit from a co-branded microsite for stores where Sanuk sells its products.
“The goal of these microsites is to guide consumers to local retail stores when they search for Sanuk footwear online but prefer to buy offline,” explains Scott Yankton, President and COO of the start-up Clarinova Inc., and co-founder of surfboardbuilders.com. “These sites tell consumers exactly which Sanuk products can be found at which retail stores, which is a huge benefit for consumers who want to see what’s in the stores so they can go and make a purchase.”
“The sites generated with Front Window will also include a map feature so people can easily find retail stores where Sanuk footwear is sold,” continues Yankton. In addition, Clarinova will promote all of the Sanuk microsites through local business directories, social media, email marketing, search engines and blogs to ensure that they are highly visible.
According to Yankton, data shows that over 90% of retail transactions still take place in brick-and-mortar stores and that most U.S. consumers are using search engines to research products and to find out where to buy locally. “Getting in front of these consumers with retail store details while they are online is one of the keys to growing sales,” says Yankton.
La Jolla-based Surf Diva, Inc. has already seen the tremendous benefit of Front Window web technology. “We have jumped to #1 for local searches for Sanuk footwear in La Jolla,” says Surf Diva co-owner Coco Tihanyi. “While we are well-known world-wide as Surf Diva Surf School, the local search improvements will definitely get more customers into our Surf Diva Boutique and improve that part of our business.”
Jeff Kelley, founder of Sanuk is serious about bolstering local search and supporting the company’s retail partners. “From the beginning, our retailers have supported us and embraced our unique design, and it was our individual retailers who helped grow our business organically,” explains Kelley. “We want to take care of our retailers in turn by implementing this new technology.”
Kelley, no stranger to progressive marketing, believes local search marketing is a creative way to reach customers on the web. “Front Window will drive more customers to the local stores where our footwear is sold and that will be good for all of us.”
The Clarinova team is excited to work with such an innovative, growing company like Sanuk. “We could not be happier to collaborate with Sanuk,” says Yankton. “They are an outstanding, innovative organization and a great fit for our technology.”
La Jolla-based Clarinova is a collaborative web marketing company that works with manufacturers and their retailers to create a powerful online presence. Clarinova’s core technology—Front Window software—bridges the gap between creating a brand and making certain it is well-represented on retail websites and across the Internet. The Front Window technology facilitates local search by guiding customers to retail stores. It also redistributes social media and other content, and allows retailers to easily maintain accurate inventory online.
