The three FREE events combined brought together over 1,000 talented jobseekers eager to meet with nearly 40 of the most coveted brands in the action sports, streetwear, outdoor, bike, fitness and snowsports industries. “The chance to meet employers and to discuss what their job entails was the highlight of my experience at the Shmooz,” stated Mike Aldini, a jobseeker at the Shmooz at SIA. “I was grateful the Shmooz provided the medium in beginning relationships and I walked away with a sense of confidence and an extremely optimistic view of the future.” Since 2006, the Shmooz has served the purpose of bringing the Malakye website to life by creating an exciting environment for both companies and potential employees to connect. “Companies in lifestyle-driven industries should participate in the Shmooz for the simple fact that you are able to connect with tons of potential employees face to face all in one place,” explained Gary Wyman, the Marketing Director at Icelantic Ski. “Bringing the talent to us as opposed to getting out there looking for...

As AGENDA Expands, BRA Looks Forward to January’s Long Beach Show

AGENDA, a leading forum for action sports, surf, streetwear, lifestyle, footwear industries and Board Retailers Association’s west coast trade show partner, shares their 2014 strategic plan for expansion. “Following the momentum of AGENDA’s Summer 2013 show circuit, we recognize the opportunity and potential for growth,” downloads AGENDA’s founder, Aaron Levant. “We’ve laid out our 2014 strategy to provide better customer service, cater to our brand partners, and continue to curate the AGENDA experience.” This includes big plans for its Vegas show, and the BRA-endorsed landmark west coast show in Long Beach. AGENDA Vegas will double in size by its second edition, following the success of the inaugural AGENDA Vegas 2013 show at the Sands Expo. The expansion, due to customer demand, to bring the AGENDA experience to the Vegas landscape will include the addition of the WOODS – surf/lifestyle contemporary neighborhood and AGENDA WMNS segment. Adding an additional day to the two-‐day schedule, making it a three-‐day show. “We feel AGENDA has barely scratched the surface of what is possible in the Vegas landscape. There are so many opportunities and an amazing potential to grow in this space,” shares Levant. The January 2014 edition of AGENDA Long Beach’s flagship show will now house over 700+ brands. As the largest and most diverse offering of all three shows, providing a true cross-‐section representing each genre of California subcultures. AGENDA Long Beach is both a national show with retailers hailing from 49 states (believe it or not, South Dakota couldn’t make it) and globally from 48 countries. Recent data shows 31% of the retailers visit from over 1000+ miles away. Heading...

Board Retailers Association Attends AGENDA Long Beach as Official West Coast Partner

BRA Endorsement among many highlights of record August show Wrightsville Beach, NC (August 1, 2013) – Board Retailers Association (BRA), the non-profit organization supporting independent retailers in the surf, skate, snow, wake, wind and SUP industries, attended AGENDA last week in Long Beach, CA. It was the first official west coast trade show presence of the Association since ASR closed its doors in 2010. AGENDA Long Beach is BRA’s exclusive west coast partner—a leading forum for action sports, surf, streetwear, lifestyle and footwear. AGENDA founder Aaron Levant was pleased to announce the show was the most successful in its decade-long history. “Looking back at AGENDA’s humble beginnings, and now our ten year run, I want to take the opportunity to thank all our brands and retailers for the continued support and sharing in our vision,” he said. “Long Beach was the largest show in the history of AGENDA, showing a staggering increase of over 40% in retail and distributor attendance. I can’t think of a better way to commemorate our ten year run.” A notable show highlight was the launch of AGENDA WMNS—a neighborhood where Women’s dedicated brands united in one location, which called attention to the powerful potential of the women’s market in action sports, in addition to offering a convenient shopping experience for attendees. “I was very happy with the women’s brand selection in the AGENDA WMNS section. Having them all in one area made browsing and buying very easy,” said BRA Co-Chair Coco Tihanyi, owner of Surf Diva Boutique. “I found some great new brands to sell at the boutique and was able to place my...

Transworld Business Reports Agenda Adding Snow Element to January 2011 Show

Agenda plans to bring on approximately 40 snow related brands to tradeshow January 2011 show in Southern California. Similar to the additions of Primer and The Berrics Agenda, the snow specific exhibitor space will be set off as its own section of the show, and will be a group of small, core brands with a focus on outerwear, boots, hardgoods, and goggles. “It’s definitely a needed category for Agenda and with the move of SIA to Denver, it’s become inconvenient for a lot of the West Coast Retailers to go further than Las Vegas. A lot of the same buyers who buy for apparel and footwear buy for snow, and they are already coming to our show. So it seemed like the next step to add this segment,” says Agenda Co-Founder Aaron Levant. To see the full story on Transworld Business please visit...

Shop Eat Surf Checks in with Surf Expo

http://www.shop-eat-surf.com/news-item/1021/roy-turner-s-surf-expo-update By TIFFANY MONTGOMERY We continue checking in with trade shows today as trade show season approaches. Today, we hear from Roy Turner of Surf Expo. One new Surf Expo feature Roy discusses is a Retail Survivor Series hosted by the Board Retailers Association on Aug. 19, the day before Surf Expo starts. Previously in our trade show series, we talked with Andy Tompkins of ASR and Aaron Levant of Agenda. How is Surf Expo August shaping up? Overall, good. Despite our economy, beach traffic has been steady this summer, and our retailers are saying that sales are beating their projections. Do you expect the show to have as many exhibitors and attendees as last summer show? With the exception of the windsurf manufacturers, we’ll have nearly the same number of exhibitors but not as many booths. The attendee story is looking good. Our retailer pre-registration numbers are actually on par with numbers last year. Are there any new features being introduced at this show? We are excited to have our wakeboard pool actually on the show floor this year. Earlier this spring we offered a special free day of exhibitor training in California and Florida. At the show we’re continuing that theme with a daylong Retailer Survival Series by the Board Retailers Association on August 19 and a live, interactive painting demo for surfboard shapers from artist Drew Brophy. The 2009 Wake Awards are going to be great. Of course, we’ll also have our skate park and the fashion shows. Are you seeing exhibitors opt for more cost-effective booth options? Definitely. Many exhibitors are deciding this is not...
