SURF INDUSTRY MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR SIMA IMAGE AWARDS

The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) is proud to announce the list of nominees for the SIMA Image Awards, which will honor the best of the surf industry from 2010. In its eighth year, the SIMA Image Awards is the only awards program that gives the surf industry the opportunity to recognize fellow surf industry companies for their outstanding contributions to the industry. “On behalf of the SIMA Board of Directors, I would like to congratulate each SIMA Image Awards nominee on the accomplishment of being recognized by your industry peers for your hard work and innovation,” said Doug Palladini, SIMA President and VP of Marketing for Vans. “Image Awards is the perfect time to reflect on the excellence of our industry, celebrate the success of today and be inspired for the future. Congratulations to BRA Member Thalia Surf Shop on Their New Store Opening

Tiffany Montgomery of Shop Eat Surf announces that BRA Member, Thalia Surf Shop is partnering with Vans to open another store in Laguna Beach, adjacent to their current location. The store will be called Vans by Thalia Surf Shop and is expected to open in the next few days. According to the article, Vans, which is making a push on the surf side of the action sports industry, is interested in partnering with other retailers in a similar vein. The concept of vendors and retailers partnering together on joint retail ventures has really took ahold over the past couple of years with stores like ZJ Boarding House, Coast 2 Coast and HSS all partnering with major vendors to redesign and brand their shops....

One Shop To Rule Them: Bangers For Bucks 2011 Surf Expo’s  Bangers For Bucks skate contest is back and better than ever, pitting nine skate shop teams against each other in a battle for $15,000 in cash and merchandise. Here’s how your shop can be one of them. Surf Expo’s marquee skate event, Bangers For Bucks, is returning January 6-8 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. There nine skate shop teams will compete on a custom built Team Pain street course in front of thousands of buyers and industry leaders in what has become the most prestigious skate shop contest in the world. Sponsored by Skullcandy, Vans, and Eastern Skate Supply, Bangers For Bucks offers shops the chance to compete for $15,000 in cash and store merchandise. “It’s fantastic to be see the growth of Bangers For Bucks at Surf Expo,” says Martin Ramos, contest manager and Owner of Kona Skatepark. “The level of skating is through the roof.
